Saija Lehtonen: Fish skin tanning and dyeing

Two historical tanning methods will be presented at this demonstration. You will get to see fish skins in different stages of the tanning process and learn how fish skins are dyed with natural colourants. In addition to tanning, the demonstration will explain the special characteristics of fish skin, differences between various species of fish and why tanning with natural methods is relevant even today.
